When the weight of the world sits on our shoulders it doesn’t feel too good. We feel the pressure of work, school, our family, the expectations of society. Sometimes our mind is just clouded of all those things and it can get hard to see what’s important. How do we handle that? We can try to avoid it and just push through the day, or we can take five minutes to refocus our mind. We can stuff the emotions we are feeling deep down and keep walking, or we can face it all and start healing. We can try to tell ourselves that we don’t have time to deal with everything that’s going on, or we can realize that we need to get back to the truth of what this life is about.
We get so easily distracted by things that really don’t matter as much as we think- money, fame, looks, success. If we don’t have these things we can feel the pressure to get it, we feel like something is wrong with us if we don’t know what to do with our lives, or that we are not married yet, or that our job isn’t making as much money as someone else’s. But lets look at the TRUTH- that those things are not what this life is about. This life is about relationships, love, putting others before yourself. This life is to glorify God, not ourselves. If you don’t know what you’re going to do with your life yet, it’s okay, breathe and trust that you will find your way. Maybe everyone seems to be getting engaged or married or having kids, and you’re wishing it was you. It’s great that you aspire to have that, but remember that it will happen when the time is right. Enjoy where you are right now and focus on your growth. Our world puts so much emphasis on making a ton of money and having so much stuff, but that’s when we need to refocus our minds that that is not what brings happiness. Don’t fret if your job isn’t making you rich, do what you are called to do and what you love regardless.
Now, take a big breath in, and then let it all out. You can let go of this pressure building up inside of you. You are doing just fine, and it will work out. No need to wish you were further along in life, or in someone else’s shoes. Rest your mind in things above, not on things of this earth. He’s got you†
Peace I leave with you. May peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27
