Slowing Down Life

I know it’s not just me who feels like there isn’t enough hours in the day to get done what I want to.   I’m running from one thing to the next thing and rarely stopping to breathe.  It has been a pretty recent thing for me to see the importance in slowing down and enjoying every moment instead of trying to be productive and efficient in everything I do.  But not only the importance, but the necessity of it.  When you get so caught up in the hustle and bustle of life, you lose sight of what your purpose is.  It becomes a check list of things to make sure you get done, even the things you do for joy just seems to become something you feel like you have to do.  But that is not the way God intended for us to live.

A thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.  I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.   John 10:10

Jesus came for us to have life, true life.  And true life does not mean just going through the motions, but to be present in every moment.  To allow your life to be interruptible by Him so that he can work in it.  When you stop and slow down you see what is important in life and where he is leading you throughout the day.  It might mean you don’t get to go to the grocery store when you thought you would, or that you have to put off studying for your upcoming test one more day.  There might be (and probably will be) things that don’t go your way.  But there will be other things that you didn’t plan that will happen that will be so much more meaningful and fulfilling. Small simple things like hold the door for someone, and bigger things like being there for someone in their crisis, or taking the time to teach them something that you know and they don’t.

Slowing down and seeing where God wants to work in my life has revealed so much joy and meaning.  It allows me to have energy for what’s coming next and to be in the right mind set instead of feeling exhausted all the time and just pushing to get through the busy days.  And He wants everyone to live the life that He intended, to live in his joy and feel His presence, to not be stuck in a hectic routine every day but to be free and at peace even in the busy times and to enjoy every step of the journey.  Ask Him to help you see the beauty of every day, to have Him work in your life and for you to work in others, to not be stressed or anxious or in a rush but to be at peace, joyfully, and free ❤
